Artwork Gallery

I am going to start posting all of my artwork, so I can have one place where I can easily access all of my creative products. This will come in handy when I am discouraged. I can remember that I have challenged myself to be creative in the past, and even if I lose my way for a long period of time, I will find my way back to the crafts and compulsions that help me make meaning of the world.
Anyhow, here is an oil painting I did when I took a workshop by Bradford J. Salamon. He challenged me to use colors expressively and capture more light in my paintings. For someone with very little confidence in my own painting skills, this exercise really helped me step outside of my comfort zone. Here I zoomed in on Kathy's face and tried to convey all of her vibrant qualities. She is truly one of the most positive and genuine people I know, so I hope my painting captured a bit of that. I gave it to her as a birthday gift, and stole this image off her Facebook. :)

"Kathy" by Sandy Phan, 2006. Oil on canvas.
"Orchids," 2008. Colored pencil, collage, and pen & ink. A birthday gift for mom.

Here are some other drawings and paintings I have done in the many wonderful (and affordable) art classes I've taken over the years at community colleges:
